Big Pharma have finally admitted defeat to cannabis.
Medicinal marijuana has been life-changing in those that have started using it since it became legal. It has cured everything from seizures to anxiety.
But the big question mark has been hanging over whether or not it is possible to cure cancer with cannabis and THC oil.
People have claimed that THC oil cured their cancer, but the stories have been debunked and not taken seriously, and due to the drug still being in its infancy in terms of legalization, there has been no official studies to date to back up the claims.
Big Pharma have been worried about medical marijuana from day one. They knew they would lose a lot of their custom to people choosing to opt for the natural cure instead of their laboratory drugs.
In places where cannabis has been made legal, opiate overdoses have dropped by as much as 25%, as people choose cannabis rather than addictive prescription painkillers to treat their pain.
Despite much of Big Pharma still digging their heels, one Uk based company, GW Pharmaceuticals has admitted what they could deny no longer, that cannabis kills cancer cells.
They have agreed with over 100 peer reviewed studies that affirmed the rumors, the first big pharmaceutical company to do so.
One of the more high profile studies which found a positive correlation between cannabis and killing cancer cells was conducted by Dr. Wai Liu, an oncologist at London’s St. George’s University, who found that cannabis kills cancer cells of patients suffering with leukemia.
“There’s quite a lot of cancers that should respond quite nicely to these cannabis agents,”
In reference to how this would affect pharmaceutical companies, he said:
“If you talk about a drug company that spent billions of pounds trying to develop these new drugs that target these pathways, cannabis does exactly the same thing – or certain elements of cannabis compounds do exactly the same thing – so you have something that is naturally produced which impacts the same pathways that these fantastic drugs that cost billions also work on.”
